UROS FLOATING ISLANDS HOMESTAY TOUR 2D_1N
One of the most visited and anigmatic destinations in Puno are the floating islands of the Uros; the typical tour of the islands in totora boats, which is are considered almost like a floating city with an archipelago of almost a hundred islets where tourists enjoy a living day with local people, take a ride through the waters of the lake more. You can also buy handicrafts (made of totora) and taste their typical dishes.
UROS HOMESTAY TOUR.
The uros call themselves “The men of black blood” or “sons of the lake” because they can survive on the waters of Titicaca enduring its drastic changes in climate and strong solar radiation. On the island you will be able to participate in the different activities in the highest and navigable lake in the world that gave mythological origin to the Inca Culture.
If destiny is a way of seeing things and not one place, let’s start our experience in the middle of the untamed waters of Titicaca.
To start, you will be picked up from your hotel, the airport or bus station, to go to the Kalapajra port and board the boat to reach one of the floating islands where you will stay with a local family, characteristic for the extensive use of the totora for their subsistence for the construction of the islands, houses, rafts and crafts.
The lodgings on the islands are comfortable and the families are trained to receive tourists. There you will experience a cultural exchange, live as one of the child of the lake by sailing and you will be able to take impressive photos of the ethereal sunset.
Departure time for the islands is from 10:00 a.m. until 17:00 p.m.
